Pilates Injuries

Pilates (Neck,Back,Shoulders and Hips)
Pilates is one of the fastest growing group fitness classes in North America right now, and is not free of injury either. Pilates uses a lot of upper body strength and different muscles. Deconditioned people who attend these classes have to be looked after much more, because of their muscles not being as strong. With being deconditioned, they may not know the proper moves, which could lead to injury.
With the amount of muscles use, there are different injuries that could occur, like Muscle Strain (by a bad sudden movement), Frozen Shoulder (especially if you are over the age of 40), Rotator Cuff Injury (Falling on the arm wrong), and Groin Strain (pulling the legs further then your capacity.
Clients that have history of injuries should really be looked after and their own instruction through the class for they will not over exert themselves. With the rise of popularity of Pilates, many elderly have joined and are at a higher risk of injury.
